Hey guys! Have you seen the UNDER THE NEVER SKY Book Trailer?
Filming this was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. My friend--the amazing Roman White--was the driving force behind it. When I asked him for some help with a trailer, I expected a thirty-second clip with some photos, maybe a little bit of voice-over. To say the end result blew me away is the understatement of the year.
We shot this in Los Angeles a few weeks ago during two days in a studio, and at a local park. The actors, extras, and crew were generous, talented and so much fun to spend time with. Thank you Madison McMillan (Aria), Wyatt Nash (Perry), Bryan Lillis (Roar), Jonathan Vane (Hess), Liam Ackerman (Cinder), Rocky (Talon), Pedro Castro (DP/The Spaniard), Gray (Make-up/The Mask-Maker), Sammy, Tiffany, Rose, Kermit, Frankie, Betsy, Lia, Talia, Michael, Luca, Roman, Roman, Roman. You were all amazing!
Some of you have reached out to me with questions about why Perry doesn't have long hair, or why Aria isn't wearing her army fatigues. (I love that you know the story so well!) The answer is that we had a limited budget, sadly. If you want to see the world and characters depicted to their fullest, cross your fingers for the green light by Warner Bros., who have optioned the film rights. No, really. Cross them. Please. ; )
I'll be posting a few behind-the-scenes photos of the shoot over the next week. The first one is of the cast, Roman and yours truly. (I need to make a disclaimer that it was freezing and raining in Los Angeles that day, which is why I'm dressed in layers of "wardrobe." Because.... Well. I just needed to say that...) The second was taken during the studio shoot.

Studio day! Our "Perry" was actually a skilled archer. Look at that form! |
I've uploaded a few more to Facebook page, and head on back tomorrow for more photos and tidbits about the shoot. If there's something specific you'd like to know, leave a question in the comments below!

ReplyDeletethanks, PB! I'm ready, too :D
DeleteI have to say, Bryan is a spot on Roar in my book or head/mind/imagination! I wondered about Perry's hair too b/c I *hearts* ma Perry but for a book trailor I thought IT.WAS.AWESOME! Great job to everyone involved!!! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen! <3! So happy you like it!
DeleteI just finnished the book yesterday and loved it. And I'm going to look at the clip as soon as miss Teeny falls asleep.
ReplyDeleteSO glad, Jo! Also, Miss Teeny is the cutest nickname ever.
DeleteThat is so awesome! :D I love when book trailers look so fantastic that I could see them being for movies. This one was incredible. Also, is it me, or does Wyatt Nash bear a strong resemblance to Wesley from The Princess Bride? (Note: this is a good thing.)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lexie! I guess Wyatt does a little bit! Now I'm thinking: "As you wish..."
DeleteHe was on Survivor, very fitting for a "Savage"! ;-)
DeleteOh man! What a great experience for you! And the trailer just deepened my love for Roar! Can't wait to see more behind the scenes photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sallie! Glad to have fed your Roar love :)
DeleteSo very very cool! And I didn't even get that that was Rocky! HA!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jackie. And yes. My little actor :)
DeleteI got to say that the trailer was so awsome that i jusst had to go get it. The min. I got it I couldn't put it down. I loved it I can't wait to get my hand on the next. Oh and the whole time I was watching the trailer I had to keep telling myself that it was not a movie, but a book. :)
ReplyDeleteAll of this was in 2012 is there any updates on the whole movie situation??? will there be a movie ??? Great job with the trailer it was great!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this review. I am really looking forward to this book. I have heard a lot of people really love it, so my expectations are pretty high, but maybe I need to lower them a little so I won't be disappointed if it's not as good as I hope it will be.
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with this book!!! I read it in one day! When will the movie come out?
ReplyDeleteThey're perfect cast to the movie. In particular Wyatt Nash as Peregrine *.*
