I got a new bow!

One of the best parts of being a writer is research. I love immersing myself in scientific studies and nonfiction books. On my shelf right now, I have the following titles:

Dinner with a Cannibal (surprisingly, a good book)
Wildwood Wisdom
Medieval Lives
Medieval Warfare
The Survival Instinct
Radical Evolution

I honestly would be thrilled if I could read non-fiction for hours out of every day.

Some research is more hands on. A walk in the woods. A sketch of a city. Or archery lessons.

Now that is fun. Yesterday I treated myself to a new bow. You'll see it here. Isn't she a beauty?

Thanks to Wayne over at Archery Only. You're awesome!

  2. I would totally love to see a "Under the Never Sky Survival Guide" book after this series is over... you never know...Chapter 1: How to Survive Aether Storms if Avoiding is Impossible.

  3. Fascinating book list. Thanks for sharing! I find that sometimes research is fun and sometimes it's plain drudgery. Your books all seem interesting but I couldn't find, "The Survival Instinct." Would you mind sharing the author's name? And I just wanted to mention your book has made it to my all-time favorites list. Love it! Can't wait for the follow up!

    1. Thank you, Laura! I actually wrote the wrong name down. I have a book called the Fear Instinct, but the one I really like is by Gavin de Becker. http://www.amazon.com/Other-Survival-Signals-Protect-Violence/dp/0440508835/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1330530075&sr=8-2 Thanks again for coming by!

  6. My first thought when I saw the bow in this post was, 'SHE'S SO BADASS!' Bows are sexy badass. You need to take a picture showing off your mad archery skills!

So cool having the opportunity to do hands-on experience for your novels!
